
A transient murder suspect was in custody Monday for the beer-theft stabbing death of a security guard at a Sylmar shopping center.
The stabbing took place at the shopping center housing a Food 4 Less and CVS pharmacy, among other stores, in the 12000 block of Glenoaks Boulevard near Hubbard Street, ABC7 reported.

According to multiple media reports, the security guard attempted to stop the transient from stealing beer when the stabbing took place.
Both the suspect and the guard are thought to be in their 20s.
The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of kin.
The suspect was arrested by LAPD officers across the street from the shopping center after the stabbing Sunday, according to multiple media reports.
It has not been revealed where in the shopping center the victim worked as a security guard.
