
A man was struck by multiple vehicles and killed when he got out of his car on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar.
Authorities began receiving reports about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, first of a dead animal and then of a person down on the southbound side of the freeway south of Roxford Street near the San Diego (405) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department said it was not immediately clear why the man exited his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
Three southbound lanes were blocked and a SigAlert was issued.
