
A civilian was injured as he escaped from a burning building and two firefighters suffered minor burns and heat exhaustion trying to douse the fire Sunday in Long Beach, officials said.
The blaze at a commercial building was reported about 4:45 p.m. near Atlantic Avenue and 11th Street in central Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
A 27-year-old male, injured climbing out of a window to escape the flames, was taken to the hospital, LBFD officials said. The extent of his injuries was not yet available.
Two firefighters also were reported hospitalized with minor injuries.
Crews responding to the scene were able to knock down the blaze by 5:10 p.m.
