Police Monday circulated a security photo in hopes of tracking down a hit-and-run motorist sought for critically injuring a bicyclist in the Westlake area of Los Angeles.

The cyclist, whose name was not released, suffered severe head injuries in the collision that occurred about 6:50 p.m. Aug. 15 at Venice Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The security photo shows the bicyclist as he was being struck by a tan minivan as both were traveling westbound on West Venice Boulevard, police said. A description of the motorist was not released.

The Los Angeles City Council has a standing reward in hit-and-run cases, with up to $50,000 offered for information leading to an identification, arrest and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call (877) LAPD-247.
