The coroner’s office Wednesday released the name of a 27- year-old man who was gunned down in the Fairfax district by a killer who remains at large.
Damien Scott Jr. of Los Angeles died at the scene of the shooting, which was reported about 5:45 p.m. Monday on Melrose Avenue near Sierra Bonita Avenue.
Scott had been arguing with a man who pulled out a gun and fired several shots at him, according to Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department’s media relations office.
The suspect, who was driving a black SUV, was last seen traveling east through an alley just south of Melrose Avenue, Herrera said.
Police are unsure whether the shooting was gang-related.
LAPD West Bureau Homicide detectives asked anyone with information about the shooting to call them at (213) 382-9470.
