The death Friday of a woman in her 60s, who was struck by an Amtrak train in Northridge, was being investigated as an apparent suicide, a coroner’s spokesman said.
The northbound Pacific Surfliner train struck the pedestrian about 10 a.m. on Tampa Avenue, according to Amtrak spokeswoman Bernae Graham. She died at the scene.
Her name was withheld pending notification of her family.
There were no injuries to the 164 passengers and crew, Graham said. The passengers were taken to the Van Nuys station to await a replacement train.
The Surfliner runs between San Diego and Goleta, Graham said.
