Law enforcement authorities Tuesday were trying to solve the mysterious murder of a woman who was shot to death in Industry as she left her job and walked to her vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies had little to go on, and they declined to speculate about a motive for the killing.
They did not say whether they believe the woman was targeted for some unknown reason, or whether the killing was a random act that may have been tied to a robbery or some other attack.
The shooting was reported at 10:23 p.m. Monday in the 17600 block of Castleton Street, said Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
When deputies arrived, they found the woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the torso, Moody said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect had fled the scene, he said, and no suspect information was immediately available.
