A motorist who allegedly was responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian last week in West Los Angeles was facing a possible felony charge, police said Friday.
Antonio Huizar, 45, was arrested on the night of the crash, which occurred about 8:25 p.m. Aug. 30 at Federal Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Detective Gilbert Esquivel of the West Traffic Division.
Huizar was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run and was released the following day on $50,000 bail. His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 21 in downtown Los Angeles.
Melissa Koehler, 47, died at the scene of the crash, according to the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department.
