
The early morning shooting death of a suspect by law enforcement officers on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights forced the shutdown of the northbound freeway through much of Sunday morning.
The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. after California Highway Patrol officers confronted a man who was walking in lanes on the freeway. Officers opened fire following a confrontation with the man.
Video from the scene shows multiple officers firing at the suspect.
The northbound freeway was expected to be closed at least five hours.
