Authorities seized about $1.2 million worth of hoverboards allegedly bearing counterfeit certificates of compliance with safety standards at a business in Santa Fe Springs, the sheriff’s department reported Tuesday.
Investigators served a search warrant in the 10000 block of Pioneer Boulevard on Monday and seized more than 2,500 of the hoverboards, authorities said. The name of the business was not disclosed.
A “person of interest” was questioned. No arrests were reported. Anyone with information about the case was urged to call (323) 981-5320, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
