Two men were critically wounded in a machete attack in the Westlake area near downtown Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.
Few details were yet available as police tried to find witnesses to help solve the mysterious crime.
The stabbings were reported at 11:20 p.m. Sunday around Third Street and Burlington Avenue, said Sgt. B. Riederich of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Station.
The victims were found on a sidewalk and taken to a hospital for treatment, Riederich said.
No suspect information was available, he said. Officers were canvassing the area in search of people who witnessed the attack.
No weapon was found at the scene, Riederich said. It wasn’t therefore clear how authorities knew the weapon was a machete.
