A teenage boy was shot and critically wounded Saturday on a street in South Los Angeles, police said.
The shooting happened about 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Imperial Highway, according to LAPD Sgt. R. Tamparong of Southeast Division.
“There was some kind of altercation there and the boy was shot,” Tamparong said. “He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He’s still in critical condition but he’s stable now and was expected to survive.”
Tamparong said there was no suspect description and investigators were looking into the possibility that it was gang-related.
“We just don’t know at this point,” Tamparong said.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the LAPD’s Southeast Division at (213) 972-7828. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS. All tips can be made anonymously.
