A man in his 20s was fatally shot in the garage of a home in Carson Friday, and the assailant was at large.
The shooting occurred about 5:40 a.m. in the 23500 Block of Panama Avenue.
“About five to six people were socializing inside the garage when an unknown person knocked on the garage door,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “When the door was opened, the suspect opened fire and fled in an unknown direction.”
The victim died at a hospital. Authorities withheld his pending family notification.
A motive for the crime was unknown, but the shooting was not believed to have been gang-related, the sheriff’s department reported.
