Firefighters Sunday rescued an injured hang glider from a hard-to-reach spot with the aid of a helicopter.

The injury was reported at 12:57 p.m. near Ortega Highway and Main Divide Road, in a remote unincorporated just west of Lake Elsinore, according to a report from Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters hiked to the victim’s location, about a mile from the roadway, and used a helicopter to take the hang glider to an awaiting ambulance, she said.

The area is just inside the Cleveland National Forest, near the small town of El Cariso.

The victim was hospitalized with minor injuries.
