A man in his 50s was fatally stabbed Wednesday during a fight involving several people in the Athens Village area, west of Compton.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Century Station responded about 8:55 a.m. to a report of a stabbing victim in the 100 block of West 132nd Street, between Broadway and Figueroa Street, officials said.

When they arrived, firefighters were already at the scene rendering aid to the victim, who had been stabbed at least once “during a physical altercation involving several people at the location,” according to a sheriff’s department statement.

The man died at a hospital. His name was not immediately available.

No arrests were reported and no weapon was recovered.
