
A man was stabbed in La Habra just after midnight Sunday, and police were searching for his assailant.
According to a statement issued by La Habra police, an officer on patrol saw two men apparently fighting at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Pinehurst Avenue about 12:15 a.m.
The officer detained one man, while the other man fled, police said. The man in custody turned out to have a stab wound, who told police that the man who fled was his friend, who had been trying to help him.
The wounded man was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
