A man in his 50s was fatally shot Sunday outside his home in Valley Glen and police were searching for the gunman, a police spokeswoman said.

The shooting was shortly after 10 a.m. in the 6700 block of Greenbush Avenue, Los Angeles police Officer Irma Mota said.

The victim was standing outside a home when a man walked up to him, pulled out a gun and shot him, Mota said. The gunman then fled the scene in a car. No suspect description was immediately available.

The victim was treated at the scene and then transferred to a hospital where he later died, Mota continued.

A motive for the shooting was unknown.

The homicide was being investigated by LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division, which normally handles high profile homicides or homicides with multiple victims.
