A 21-year-old Minnesota man who went missing last week while visiting his aunt in Sun Valley has been found dead, his mother confirmed Thursday.

A California Highway Patrol officer said investigators were trying to determine if Vincent Tyler Marcelo Babudro was the person found dead Thursday inside a vehicle that went over the side of Little Tujunga Canyon Road in Angeles National Forest.

Babudro had last been seen about 9 p.m. Oct. 26 in the 8900 block of Helen Avenue. He was driving a Champagne-colored 2002 Volvo station wagon with Minnesota license plates.

His mother, Stacy Waller, who said she traveled from Minnesota to be closer to the search effort, told City News Service her son had been found dead, but she did not discuss details.

The county coroner’s office will positively identify the victim who was inside a crumpled vehicle found about 10:50 a.m. over the side of Little Tujunga Canyon Road, south of Sand Canyon Road, not far from Sun Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Rescuers climbed down to the wreckage and determined there was a person dead inside, according to the CHP.

Waller said her son, who didn’t know anyone else in the area other than his aunt, had recently bought a present for a female co-worker back in Minnesota, and had contacted the woman via text message before he went missing.

“People don’t go buy a present and disappear,” she said.
