Manhattan Beach police Friday sought public help to find a man who tried to entice a girl to get into his car last weekend.

The girl, whose age was not released, was walking alone in the 500 block of Valley Drive area about 2 p.m. Sunday when a man “walked up behind her and offered her candy and asked her age,” said Manhattan Beach police Officer Kristie Colombo.

She ran to a friend’s house, but while walking back home, saw the same man inside a car, Colombo said. The man told her to get into the car so he could drive her home, but she refused and ran home, the officer said.

The man was described as black, about 30 years old, with a medium build, muscular arms and short black hair. He was driving an older-model “brownish/greenish” car with a tan interior, according to police.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Detective Aleina Smith at (310) 802-5133, or the police tipline at (310) 802-5171.
