
A man was in custody Monday morning after he ran onto the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Downey, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at about 5 a.m. to the southbound Santa Ana Freeway near the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway interchange, CHP Officer Peter Nicholson said.
The man wore all black clothing and was running in the fast lane, Nicholson said.
Officers caught up with him and took him into custody, he said. Traffic on the southbound Santa Ana Freeway was stopped during the incident.
