Three Indio men were charged with numerous felonies Tuesday for allegedly stealing a truck and washing machine from a Palm Desert home, then trying to sell the appliance online within hours of the alleged theft.

Terry Howard, 26, is due to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges of vehicle theft, grand theft and receiving stolen property, while Jamie Swart, 31, is scheduled to appear on charges of grand theft and receiving stolen property.

Dominic Castro, 40, is charged with grand theft and receiving stolen property, and is scheduled to appear in court next month after posting $40,000 bail, jail records show.

Hours after the victim reported the Oct. 30 theft of a truck from a home in the 7300 block of Shadow Mountain Drive, the washing machine that had been in the bed of the vehicle was posted for sale online, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Kirk Steines. He said a “controlled buy” of the washer was made, resulting in the arrests of the three suspects.

Steines said deputies also recovered the stolen truck, as well as “additional stolen property and evidence related to additional commercial burglaries.”
