A 25-year old man who was out on bail was behind bars again Friday accused of being in possession of a submachine gun.
Riverside County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a Beaumont residence on Wednesday that stemmed from an investigation into a theft that occurred in October, Sgt. Rudy Cortez said.
While carrying out the search warrant in the 400 block of Olive Avenue, deputies allegedly found a 9 mm Sten submachine gun and various types of ammunition.
Thomas Chapparosa of Beaumont was arrested at the residence on suspicion of possessing an unlawful weapon and committing a crime while out on bail, Cortez said.
Chapparosa remained behind bars in lieu of $45,000 bail.
