Authorities Saturday were trying to determine if a pedestrian’s death was an accident or suicide as the victim was hit by an Amtrak train in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood.
The death was reported at 8:50 p.m. Friday at 421 N. Avenue 19, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The pedestrian — whose identity was not released — died at the scene, Stewart said.
Details about the crash were not immediately available and the incident remained under investigation by Amtrak and local authorities.
