A man threatened to jump Thursday evening from a freeway overpass in Montecito Heights, but was eventually taken into custody.

Both sides of the Arroyo Seco (110) Parkway were closed after the man was reported about 7 p.m. to be contemplating a jump from an overpass near Avenue 43, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

Los Angeles firefighters responded to the scene along with LAPD and California Highway Patrol officers, who blocked the freeway.

The approximately 40-year-old man was safely taken into custody about 7:45 p.m., according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
