With brush fires raging across the Los Angeles area, a suspect was arrested for allegedly setting a palm tree on fire in Van Nuys and then doing a dance as the blaze spread to nearby vehicles, a police captain said Wednesday.

A witness reported the suspected arson, prompting police and firefighters to respond to the scene near the intersection of Kester Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to Capt. Lillian Carranza of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Van Nuys Station.

The fire was put out before anyone was injured and police arrested the suspect, Carranza said on Twitter.

Nine vehicles were damaged by the blaze, according to Carranza’s tweet.

The suspect’s gender, age and name were not immediately released and it was unclear when the fire was set.
