A man who was struck by a car while walking across Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach was a 45-year-old local resident, authorities said Thursday.

A 2010 Chrysler 300 driven by a 58-year-old Cypress man struck Ignacio Castelo about 9 p.m. Friday at PCH and Myrtle Avenue, according to the coroner’s office and the Long Beach Police Department.

The motorist called authorities and remained at the scene, police said.

Castelo died at a hospital about four hours later.
