Five firefighters were recovering Sunday after they were injured battling a fire at a 7,500 square-feet strip mall in Panorama City, authorities said.
It took 150 firefighters 2 hours and 14 minutes to put out the blaze.
The flames were reported about noon Saturday at 13750 West Roscoe Blvd., said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“The flames quickly spread forcing a defensive operation and after approximately one hour, a partial collapse of debris injured two firefighters.” Bastman said.
The two firefighters were taken to a hospital with stable vital signs, she said.
Two more fighters were taken to hospitals in fair condition with exhaustion and one firefighter suffered injuries not related to the others and was hospitalized in good condition, Bastman said. No civilians were hurt.
The cause of the blaze and extent of loss were yet to be determined, she said.
