One person was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday after being freed from the wreckage of a crash in Thermal.
The two-vehicle crash was reported just after 7 a.m. near the intersection of Avenue 59 and Polk Street, just east of Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport.
Firefighters had to use extrication tools to get one person out of a crumpled vehicle, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The California Highway Patrol incident log indicates that a motorist was trying to pass another car and crashed into a work truck.
Ppipes that apparently spilled out of the truck blocked the roadway for a time, according to the log.
