Authorities Wednesday identified a motorcyclist who was killed when his bike rear-ended a stopped SUV on a carpool lane of the Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa.

The crash occurred at 5:13 p.m. Saturday on the eastbound 210 Freeway at Citrus Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Nicholson said.

Randall Mummery, 63, of the San Bernardino County community of Helendale died at a hospital, the coroner’s office reported.

Mummery was riding a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he rear-ended a 2017 Toyota RAV4 that had come to a complete stop in the HOV lane, the CHP reported.

Mummery was going about 45 mph when he struck the SUV and was ejected from his bike. Three lanes were blocked for about an hour while an investigation was conducted.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the CHP Baldwin Park Area office at (626) 338-1164.
