
The California Highway Patrol arrested 50 more people so far this Christmas holiday period in Los Angeles County and nearly twice as many statewide as it did in the same period of 2016.
CHP officers have nabbed 116 people in L.A. County and 604 statewide so far during this Christmas period from 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday. Last year the CHP jailed 389 people statewide and 66 in L.A. County during that same period.
So far four people have been killed on the roads patrolled by the CHP this holiday period. None of those deaths took place in L.A. County.
Last year there were 17 deaths statewide in the same holiday period in 2016, the CHP reported. Only one of those deaths took place in Los Angeles County, according to the CHP.
These statistics cover only the areas patrolled by the CHP.
