
A 50-year-old Duarte man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in a solo-vehicle rollover crash in Arcadia that killed his wife and injured his son, authorities said Sunday.
Ernesto Garcia was jailed Saturday in connection with the crash that killed his 47-year-old wife, Cristina Melgarejo, Arcadia police and coroner’s Lt. Brian Kim said.

Police claimed that Garcia was under the influence of alcohol and or drugs when he lost control of his truck and crashed, Arcadia police Sgt. James Trabble said.
The crash was reported at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, near Chantry Flats Road.
“Two of the occupants (Ernesto Garcia and his juvenile son) had minor injuries and were treated on scene,” Bonomo said. “A third occupant (Cristina Melgarejo) suffered injuries which proved fatal.”
Garcia was being held on $100,000 bail, according to Los Angeles County jail records and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
