A man was shot dead and a woman was wounded in a shooting in Compton, a sheriff’s deputy said Sunday.
The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Spruce Street, said Deputy Charles Moore of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics rushed the woman to an area hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, Moore said.
