A pedestrian was killed Monday on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Long Beach, authorities said.

It was reported at 2:30 a.m. on the northbound San Gabriel River Freeway north of Spring Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt.

The call began with a report of vehicles on the right shoulder and people fighting in the roadway, Brandt said. That was followed by the reported fatality.

A SigAlert was issued at 3:17 a.m. for lanes No. 1-4 with the HOV lane remaining open, he said. The lanes reopened at 5:30 a.m.
