
A man found dead on the shoulder of Interstate 10 in Palm Springs had been hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was reported about 5:15 a.m. on the 10 Freeway east of Indian Canyon Drive, California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Radford said.
Witnesses reported the victim was stumbling close to the slow lane and then rolled up in a ball on the right shoulder, the CHP said.
Radford said the man was struck by an unidentified vehicle near the shoulder of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, Radford said.
The CHP shut down the slow lane for about three hours during its investigation. No name was immediately released.
