A child was found in a pool at a Palm Desert home Monday and died at a hospital.
Emergency personnel responded around 2:30 p.m. to a home near Merill and Hillcrest drives, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The child, whose age and gender were not disclosed, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
The death was the second Coachella Valley residential pool drowning involving a child in two days.
Diego Torres, a year-old Indio boy, died at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital after he was found just after noon Sunday in a backyard pool on Brahea Court.
