Police in El Monte plan to conduct a crosswalk enforcement operation Wednesday at an intersection where an unsolved hit-and-run crash took the life of a 74-year-old woman two years ago.

The operation will take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the intersection of Gibson Road and Valley Boulevard, where Qing Ru Zhao Mao of El Monte was fatally injured on Jan. 17, 2016, according to El Monte Police Sgt. Richard Luna.

Police have no suspect or vehicle description and investigators are still looking for clues that could lead them to the driver who left Mao to die.

During Wednesday’s operation officers will pass out information seeking leads from the public.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run that killed Mao, the driver or the vehicle involved was urged to call police at (626) 580-2134 or email tips@empd.org. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.

Another pedestrian, a 92-year-old El Monte resident, was struck and killed at the same intersection on Oct. 14, police said.
