The coroner’s office Sunday publicly identified a woman who was killed when she was struck by a motorist, while trying to flee her crashed vehicle in Watts.

She was Bertha Marquez, 27, of Los Angeles, coroner’s Lt. Rudy Molano said.

The crash was on the 105 freeway at Central Avenue, a little before 4:30 a.m. Saturday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Marquez was driving a 2012 Infiniti east, when she made an unsafe turning movement to the right and struck the guardrail on the right shoulder at the Central Avenue offramp.

She then lost control of the car, which veered across the eastbound lanes and ended up, crashed and blocking the carpool and number one traffic lane.

Marquez got out of the car and tried to scramble to the right shoulder, but was clipped by an eastbound car in the carpool lane. And, another motorist, driving at an unsafe speed for traffic conditions, struck the right rear portion of Marquez’s car.

That motorist got out his car and called 911.

A fourth car, trying to avoid hitting Marquez, swerved to the right and struck Marquez.  Witnesses were unable to get a license plate number for the car that initially struck Marquez, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
