A man accused of fatally stabbing another man in Bellflower last weekend is due in court next week on a murder charge, authorities said Thursday.
The crime occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday in the 9900 block of Ramona Boulevard. Anthony Elston, 24, whose hometown was unknown, died at a hospital the following day, according to the coroner’s office and the sheriff’s department.
Jeffrey Johnson, 61, was arrested on suspicion of assault near the crime scene on Saturday, and was booked on suspicion of murder after Elston died, the sheriff’s department reported.
Johnson was charged with murder on Tuesday, and he’s being held on $1 million bail pending his next court appearance Tuesday at the Norwalk courthouse.
