Police Tuesday sought public help to find the hit-and- run motorist responsible for the death of a pedestrian in Long Beach.

Rita Felix, 52, of Long Beach was hit by a pickup truck about 6:40 p.m. Monday at Santa Fe Avenue and 19th Street and died at a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Felix “had been waiting near the bus stop on Santa Fe Avenue when she stepped out into the roadway, possibly to check for an oncoming bus,” and was hit by the truck, which kept going, according to a Long Beach police statement.

It was described as an older-model Ford F150, possibly silver or gray. No description was released of the driver.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at (562) 570-7355, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
