Deputies had responded to the residence in response to an assault with a deadly weapon call, Alexander said.
Detectives learned there was an argument between two brothers that escalated into violence. The deceased had armed himself with a baseball bat and his younger brother allegedly had a gun, Alexander said.
The victim was shot once in the chest and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Alexander. The names of the suspect and the victim are being withheld.
Anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222- TIPS.
