An elderly man in a wheelchair reportedly drowned Saturday after landing in a pool.

A family member called 911 around 5:30 p.m. to report the man had fallen in at 8 Los Coyotes in the Phillips Ranch community. The caller was unable to get the man out, according to reports.

When first responders arrived, life-saving measures were implemented but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man fell into the water and his family couldn’t get him out right away,” said Los Angeles Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo.

Pomona police were also at the scene.

“We had a call for service at that location about an 80-year-old man who fell in the water,” Sgt. Anthony Catanese said. “We haven’t gotten details yet from the scene, but it’s my understanding the man drowned.”
