One person was killed in a gruesome rollover crash at a major intersection in Corona, police said Sunday.

The two-car wreck was reported at 12:23 p.m. Saturday at Main Street and Ontario Avenue, a few hundred feet from Lee Pollard High School, said Corona police Sergeant Jason Perez.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a Saturn Vue resting on the driver’s side with the driver partially ejected, he said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, but the coroner’s office has so far been unable to confirm the identity of the victim due to the nature of the injuries, according to Perez.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was uninjured and voluntarily gave a blood sample to officers.

Police have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, Perez said.

The intersection was closed during the crash and death investigation but reopened at 8:30 p.m.

Police asked anyone with information about the crash call Corona police Officer Tim Najmulski at (951) 817-5844.
