A driver had a close call with a freight train when she made a wrong turn in Burbank Wednesday, police said.
The driver, whose name was withheld, was driving a Toyota Corolla on Buena Vista Street when she thought she was turning onto Vanowen Street but “mistakenly turned onto the railroad tracks and got stuck” about 4 a.m., said Burbank police Sgt. Derek Green.
The woman was able to get out of her car before it was hit by the train, he said.
The railroad tracks were shut down for about 90 minutes while an investigation was conducted. Green said “neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors.”
