A 40-year-old woman had her neck slashed during a robbery at a laundromat in the Pico-Union neighborhood.
The robbery occurred Thursday evening in the area of Vermont Avenue and Venice Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman was inside a laundromat when she was approached from behind by her attacker, who grabbed her purse while he simultaneously slashed her neck with a sharp object, police said.
The victim fell to the ground and suspect fled, running eastbound on Venice Boulevard. The victim sustained a laceration to her neck, which required surgery, police said.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, between 25 and 35 years old, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 170 to 180 pounds, with a thick dark goatee. He was seen wearing a gray baseball cap, all-black clothing, black shoes with white soles, and was carrying a skateboard, police said.
