A motorist was killed and his female passenger suffered minor injuries when he allowed his car to drift across a road and strike a wooden electrical pole in unincorporated Palmdale Saturday.
The driver was going eastbound in the 2000 block of Avenue P in a white 2017 Nissan Versa where he allowed the car to drift into oncoming lanes of traffic and drive onto the north dirt shoulder, where it crashed into the electrical pole, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported.

The car sustained major damage and paramedics rushed the motorist to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, where he died from his injuries. His female passenger, also taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, was treated and released for minor injuries.
Avenue P, between 20th Street East and 25th Street East, was closed from 12:45 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. to allow authorities to conduct an investigation.
