A 54-year-old ex-felon in Pomona was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of firearms after he allegedly fired gunshots into the air, police said Sunday.

Police received a call about 7 p.m. Saturday of someone firing shots in the 1200 block of West Fourth Street and obtained a search warrant for the home of Rafael Naranjo, the Pomona Police Department reported.

Naranjo was detained as he was leaving his home and the search warrant turned up a loaded unregistered gun, along with several live ammunition rounds.

Naranjo, who was booked into the Pomona City Jail, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a firearm, felony possession of ammunition, possession of a dirk or dagger, and possession of an unregistered firearm.

A dirk is defined as a short Scottish dagger.
