The coroner’s office Monday released the name of a motorist killed when his car drifted across a road and struck a wooden electrical pole in an unincorporated area near Palmdale.

Barrington Bailey, 28, was a Lancaster resident, coroner’s Investigator Kristy McCracken said.

The crash occurred before 12:45 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Avenue P, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported.

Bailey was eastbound in a white 2017 Nissan Versa when the car drifted into oncoming lanes of traffic and onto the north dirt shoulder, where it crashed into the electrical pole, officials said.

The car sustained major damage and paramedics rushed Bailey  to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, where he died from his injuries, officials said. His female passenger, also taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, was treated for minor injuries and released.
