A 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a Toyota Camry on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in South Gate, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred about 7:25 p.m. Sunday on the southbound 710 Freeway south of the South Gate railroad underpass, California Highway Patrol Officer J. Carter said.

“A pedestrian running across the lanes of traffic was struck by the Toyota Camry, causing fatal injuries to the pedestrian,” Carter said.

Wyatt Boston, 63, a transient, died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.

Officers initially shut down all four lanes but all were reopened about 10:40 p.m., the CHP said.

Anyone who witnessed the accident was asked to call the CHP’s Dispatch Center at (323) 259-3400. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
