Authorities Monday sought public help to solve the killings of two men who were gunned down in Wilmington.
The shootings occurred about 2:20 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Bayview Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Cesar Gutierrez, 24, and Joseph Duarte, 18, died at a hospital.
According to police, Gutierrez was visiting Duarte when the crime occurred.
“Mr. Gutierrez and Mr. Duarte were standing outside on the sidewalk when an unknown suspect walked up and fired multiple rounds … striking them and causing them to fall to the ground,” an LAPD statement said. “The suspect fled to a waiting vehicle.”
No description was released of the suspect or vehicle. A motive the shooting was not known. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call (310) 726-7889, or (877) LAPD-247.
