Two carjacking victims were shot and wounded in Azusa and authorities searched Tuesday for the gunman.

The shooting was reported at 11:22 p.m. Monday and occurred on Highway 39, said Sgt. Wilson Wong of the sheriff’s San Dimas Station.

The victims were able to get away from the gunman in their vehicle and were found in the area of 11th Street and San Gabriel Avenue, Wong said.

Responding deputies found a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds, Wong said. The victims were taken to a local hospital where the man was listed in critical condition and the woman was exhibiting stable vital signs, he said.

The suspect was described as male and was seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, authorities said. He was seen driving a 2000s model Ford Mustang.
